For me it has been a sad, crazy, busy, exciting, stressful, and overwhelming first four weeks of school. I'm trying to keep my head above the water. I'm wondering what it's been like for my teacher co-workers. How has your year been going? I know it's been very very difficult for a few of you...thanks for hanging in there. I've been reflecting on what's been happening (discipline, budget, staffing issues) and trying to figure out if there's something more I can do to make things better for myself and my co-workers...but I'm not sure...what do you think? Be nice...leave mean comments at edsucks.blogspot.com (sike, there's no such blog - I think).

Today was a very busy day! Discipline issues, parent concern, interviewing for a new kindergarten teacher, and the regular stuff that needs to get done. I even managed to squeeze in some classroom visits today. Such great stuff happening in the rooms...I just love it! I think yesterday's computer training went well. I can't wait to see the kids actually using the computers. How lucky they are to have such a state of the art lab. We'll definitely need some follow up training...definitely...

I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I'm trying to do too much and I feel like I'm not doing any of it well. The meetings and paperwork are really stressing me out. I need to take a deep breath. I wish I knew what to let go. I can't let any of it go. Seven days a week just isn't enough time to get everything done.

We had a great Back to School Night. Lots of parents showed up! Not too much trash left over. All in all, it was a great success! We even made a couple bucks from our uniform sale...not too shabby. A HUGE thanks to all the teachers and support staff who made the evening a success! Shout out to you all!

It was very weird doing Wizard TV! without Lucy. I'm so glad she was able to call in. The show started off very rocky. And the Wizard wasn't himself. After that huge raise he got, you'd think he'd be a little more into it...what's up with that? I'm liking the idea of guest co-hosts. I'm going to have to find some really outgoing characters. Too bad I can't hold American Idol type auditions. Too funny! Hopefully the next show will be a little more energetic...guess I'll have to buy the Wizard a Red Bull or something.

I'm feeling a little bit depressed tonight. No more Big Brother. So sad. So now I have nothing to look forward to on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I guess there's Dancing with the Stars. Nah, I think I'll read a book instead.

Mondays suck. So today Outey and I went to the LACOE offices to hear how there's almost no chance in hell that we'll be able to keep open our LACOE afterschool program. A very depressing way to start the week...but we did get a free muffin. Well, half a free muffin. Clarissa said lunch went well. So sad I missed it. I wonder what good news I'll get tomorrow? There's good news for the first grade teachers. On Wednesday we'll open the new first grade class. I appreciate the first grade teachers being so patient. I feel bad it's taken this long. But at least it's happening. Hopefully tomorrow won't suck. I hope you don't mind me using the word suck. There are other words I could use in its place ;).

Second day of school report: taking a deep breath, sipping my "drink"...taking another deep breath, more sips of the "drink"...forget the breaths, sipping the "drink"...sipping the "drink"...sipping the "drink"...refilling the "drink"...etc...

Today was the first day of school. Other than the new meal card chaos, it wasn't that bad of a day. Big shout out to the teachers for being so patient and helpful...especially with the meal cards (I HATE MEAL CARDS!) - you guys are the BEST. Another jumbo shout out to our incredible office staff. They handled the first day chaos of enrollment, meal applications, and placement like the pros they are! Shout out to Mrs. K for making me a smoothie...I saved it for lunch...TASTY! Thanks for taking care of me! I just realized there are a lot of exclamation marks in this entry. Oh well!!!!

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I'm a bit stressed. Not quite sure why. Oh yeah, now I remember: no vice principal, single track (all the kids will be there), the kids have to use the meal cards for the first time in years (nightmare!), and we have 20 extra first graders. At least it's a minimum day...that's a good thing!
